Interpretation of any written word may yield complication. People have different points of view, learning etc. Therefore it is almost impossible to come to an agreed conclusion about most issues of importance and especially of the Bible. The way the Bible is written leaves a lot of room for interpretation and understanding. Recently, we had the fortune to visit Dallas Discovery Centre (Last September, 2022) and met one of the world's most extraordinary geologists, Dr Timothy Clarey, who wrote the fundamental truth about the causes and results of the Flood (Noah's Flood) in his book Carved in Stone (ICR publication), 2020 ISBN: 9781946246257 (hardcover edition) In the first picture you see the evolutionary theorical version of dates of the structure of the earth (US area). Below is the interpretation if you have a Creationist view (and young earth theory) The picture tells a thousand words and as a born again Christian and one who knows the Lord Jesus Christ and studies the Bible through eyes that have been opened to truth, I would back the second picture (below line) any time. This genuine Christian has spent his life seeking the truth of the matter. I was so impressed by the model of the flood (seen at our local Woody Point Church) that I had to go and get this book of truths. It was well worth visiting Dallas and also a thrill and an honour to meet Dr Clarey, who was a genuine and honest man of great worth in the eyes of the Lord. What does this matter to anybody living today? It clearly shows that every person can interpret information according to their own understanding, which can differ greatly from anyone else. How can we adjust our interpretation and understanding of any paragraph, book, study, etc? In this case, we see that the foundation of the earth is supposed to be 2 billion years of age. However, when we read the Bible, it does not have any age mentioned in Genesis (first book). However, we have to look deeper. When the Holy Spirit of God (sent down at Pentecost after Jesus' ascended to the heavens) it gave the listeners (apostles and disciples of Jesus) its spirit and they understood a lot more than ever before, and even spoke in various languages etc. Their understanding has been darkened by their own thinking patterns lost over time through sin and evil acquaintances (editor's view). Now, they could preach the good news that Jesus Christ had died for their sins too, and they had the golden opportunity to see the curtain torn away and Heaven opened officially to all people, Jews and Greeks (back then). One of the fundamental ways to interpret information is to place it in its historical context_ where it first occurred_ and work its meaning from that point of view, including the times and place of its origins. Then I believe we have a better chance of seeing truth in its most pure form. When the flood occurred, [2348 BC Usher, 2006, p21] the Bible claims that God was angry with the people he had formed and decided to drown everything he had created. Thus the flood came upon every place and nook and cranny on earth. Only those in the ark (Noah's ark) were safe, along with the animals who also came to the ark to be housed during the year long coverage of the whole world. Even the mountains were covered completely, so that no soul survived. The work of Timothy Clarey must be recognized as one of the greatest revolutionary documents of our day, a relief for people who love truth and a blow for those who hate God and all God stands for, also the Bible and Christians who follow Christ. However, it will even strengthen those who are in the faith and who have fallen prey to evolutionary thought because of fashion and esteem or because of their peers.
Annals of the World by James Ussher
My rating: 5 of 5 stars I love this record of the world. This edition is rather large, but I have read through a lot of its pages. I mainly use it as a reference for Biblical facts and world facts. It could be called my "Fact checker". Because of its antiquity, it rates itself and is blatantly honest. Lately I have been using the Appendix F. MAPS for Iona and Western Asia Minor, which are of interest to my study. I have also studied the Conquests of Thrace and the Euxine, and Conquests of Alexander. Every Bible student and those who want to set records straight would benefit from owning one of these volumes. I look forward to seeing more editions that are easier to manage. This one is not a hardcover volume, but paperback and a little frail. I definitely would prefer the hardcover edition as it gets a lot of work, going in and out of my bookshelves. Revised and Updated by Larry and Marion Pierce, November, 2006. They are amazing people. May God bless them. And, being of Irish birth, I am surprised and delighted to know Ussher was born in Dublin, 11 miles from where I was given birth (Leixlip). View all my reviews |
